Director of Finance
The Director of Finance holds the key leadership of the Finance Department. The individual is responsible for safeguarding the resort assets and financial resources contributing towards maximizing resort profitability. The individual provides the leadership, vision, and strategic direction for continuous improvement of operation standards to ensure that the resort delivers a stellar level of service to all guests and achieves long-term financial performance for the Owners and the resort.

The Role
- A member of the Guidance Team (Executive Committee), participates and contributes in the preparation and development of the Resort's strategic and Business Plan.
- Provides inspirational leadership, clear vision and direction to colleagues to ensure delivery of the Patina brand, values and vision, to create an amazing experience for our guests and colleagues.
- Ensures and provides flawless, upscale, professional and high-class guest service experiences as a role model and expertise in all finance related matters.
- Oversees and manages all aspects of the Finance department and ensures that all colleagues comply with service standards, departmental policies and operating procedures set by the resort.
- Continuously deliver the highest level of product with respect to financial reporting and analysis, internal control compliance and business management. Ensure this is done with both integrity and accuracy.
- Effectively advocate departmental programs and policies to the Guidance Team, Department Heads and all colleagues.
- Actively participate in the Risk Committee planning, meetings and contribute to establish compliance with all safety and security measures and policies set by the committee.
- As appropriate, based on the resort's accounting on behalf of owners, interest accruals on long-term debt may be recorded on the resort's books; the Director of Finance should ensure accuracy of the unpaid balance and applicable interest rate, and accrue the expense to the Interest Expense line item and record the corresponding liability in the Accrued Interest liability account.
- Ensures that monthly reconciliations for all balance sheet accounts are prepared and signed off on in accordance with policy.
- Review and sign off on all bank reconciliations monthly, paying special attention to reconciling items.
- Monitor, control and record all sales, purchases, salaries and expenses of the resort.
- Monitor and effectively manage labour costs; plan vacations effectively and ensure proper service levels are provided with the labour standards, while minimizing over-time. Ensure all colleagues comply with the local Employment Laws.
- Prepare forecasts and budgets as required locally, by Corporate Office and/or Owners.
- Review the cash position of the resort on a daily basis in order to optimize the use of funds.
- Ensure gains/losses on the sale/disposal of fixed assets are properly disclosed and recorded on the Statement of Changes in financial position and on the P&L statement.
- Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of the resorts' daily services, activities, promotion, and event. Effectively communicate and update all colleagues on any changes to ensure guests receive up-to-date information.
- Handle complaints and resolve service 'glitches', keep a record of all feedbacks under the appropriate system. Ensures that the issues are resolved in a timely manner to guests' satisfaction.
- Foster a positive working environment for all colleagues and check in regularly to ensure colleagues' satisfaction and maintain strong working relationships within the team. Give praises and encouragements for good performances.
- Maintain strong working relationships with other departments to ensure effective communications for operational issues and serve as a role model for inter-departmental collaboration and support.
- Empower colleagues to take ownership and responsibility in going beyond to exceed guest expectations. Delegate responsibility and expect accountability and regular feedback.
- Monitor performances of colleagues and provide effective performance feedback for improvements, recognition and performance appraisal as due.
- Mentor and guide individual colleagues' growth and identify short to long-term goals to achieve and ensure high colleague engagement and welfare.
- Report any issue or damages and breakdowns within working areas and the resort to ensure a defect-free facilities and service amenities provided.
- Periodically review and update departmental SOPs to ensure continuous improvement and maximizes efficiency of operation and cost management.
- Perform other duties or responsibilities that are reasonable as assigned by the immediate supervisor or manager.

Talent Profile:
- Master's or Bachelor's degree in Business, preferably in Finance or equivalent.
- 10+ years of experience in hospitality with minimum five (5) years' experience in similar role or capacity in luxury hotel/resort.
- Excellent command in both written and spoken English.
- Excellent consulting and interpersonal skills.
- Motivator and self-starter, capable of handling multi-faceted projects and of working under pressure.
- Strong technical and people management skills.
- Well versed in local labour laws.
- Understands and respects local cultural, able to adapt to changing environment.
- Personable and pleasant to deal with.
- Discreet, reliable, diplomatic.

- Effective trainer, able to facilitate at all levels.
- Comprehensive knowledge of business needs, financial reporting and productivity requirements.
- Strong knowledge of Property Management System (e.g. OPERA, Sun system).
- Proficient in computer skills, particularly in the use of Microsoft Office.
